The Ohio Players Bring the Funk to Fishtown

The legendary Ohio Players will take fans on a “rollercoaster” ride of iconic hits when the band comes to Fishtown this month. The pioneers of street funk and underground R&B will perform at Rivers Casino Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. in The Event Center. Tickets starting at $29 are now available.

The Ohio Players will perform at Rivers Casino Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 8 p.m.

The Ohio Players rose to prominence in the 1970s with hits such as “Fire” and “Love Rollercoaster.” The band has since produced more than a dozen albums and earned a total of 14 gold and platinum album awards.

The Ohio Players, currently comprised of two original members — James “Diamond” Williams (drums) and Billy Beck (keyboard) — and seven additional musicians, have traveled the world and been recognized by a long list of artists who have sampled or rerecorded their material.
