Quilt National, an annual juried exhibit by the Dairy Barn, is accepting entries through Aug. 30.

Over $20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded this year.

    To apply, visit dairybarn.org/quiltnational/ .

Quilt National aims to demonstrate the transformations taking place in the world of quilting. Its purpose is to carry the definition of quilting beyond its traditional parameters and to promote quiltmaking as an art form. The works in Quilt National display a reverence for the lessons taught by the makers of the heritage quilts. Many works hold to the traditional methods of piecing and patching. At the same time, however, Quilt National is fueled by the challenge of expanding the boundaries of traditional quiltmaking by utilizing the newest materials and technologies. These innovative works generate strong emotional responses in the viewer while at the same time fulfilling the creative need of the artist to make a totally individual statement, according to the Dairy Barn.

The Quilt National ’25 jurors are Martha Sielman, executive director of Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA), a nonprofit dedicated to advancing art quilting as a fine art medium; Ellen M. Blalock, a narrative artist and documentarian who works in quilting, photography, film/video, drawing and installation; and LUKE Haynes.

As part of Quilt Nationals’ commitment to fostering talent, the exhibit offers two scholarship opportunities for submissions.

The “Artists under 35 Submission Fee Scholarship” is designed to engage and encourage young artists under the age of 35 to actively participate in the Quilt National ’25 Call for Entry.

For international artists, Quilt National ’25 is introducing shipping reimbursement scholarships designed to assist accepted international artists. Applications will be available in September.
