A mother is facing charges for the role authorities say she had in a dirt bike crash that killed her 14-year-old son in Gwinnett County, court documents show.

Amanda Jill Geiger, 47, was released from the Gwinnett jail Monday and faces charges of second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and reckless conduct.

According to arrest warrants, Noah Geiger was riding an unregistered dirt bike with no exterior lighting across six lanes near the 1800 block of Lawrenceville Highway at around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 9 when he was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead by 3:10 a.m. the following day.

The warrants state that Amanda Geiger “did allow and encourage” Noah and her 16-year-old son to ride their bikes across the road even though they were not designed for highway use and the area was not well-lit. Geiger’s older son does not appear to have been hurt in the incident but experienced “mental anguish at seeing his brother struck,” the warrants detail.

Benjamin Geiger, the children’s father, told Channel 2 Action News that the vehicle involved in the crash was in flames by the time he arrived at the site. He also recounted seeing his son’s disfigured bike on the road.

“When he got hit, he got airborne and hit the ground,” he told the news station.

Benjamin Geiger said his wife followed the boys in her car and used her headlights so they could see as they crossed the road. But only one teenager made it to the other side.

Amanda Geiger is scheduled to be in court Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Why was the mother following them in her car lighting them up? I mean that's some stupid shit, why weren't they in her car with her instead of her following them?

She has paid the ultimate price for her decision! Why cause her more pain? No one is a perfect parent.
