Man dies after falling off back of truck, getting run over in North Augusta

A man died last week after falling off the back of a truck in North Augusta and getting run over.

Just after 4 p.m. Friday, the man, who has not yet been identified, was riding on the back of a truck on the 6000 block of Northside Drive, when he fell off and was ran over by a trailer the truck was pulling, according to a news release from the Aiken County Coroner's Office.

EMS took the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m., according to the release. He will be autopsied in Newberry, South Carolina.

The coroner's office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
