There's a new resource available to help local farmers get a better understanding of their businesses.

TEAM Tilley Leaders Program is an outreach program with Black and underserved farmers in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. It looks to teach them how to manage risk and improve profitability using their own farms' financial data through hands-on training and customized tech called "Tilley."

Participants will learn about incorporating financial decision s into routine farm management operations, run real-time risk scenarios, and receive financial scorecards on their farm along with ready-to-print loan documents. Courses are delivered through self-paced instructional presentations and videos, hands-on practice, live instructor-led webinars, and three in-person workshops (dates and locations to be announced).

Although the curriculum utilizes farmers' data, Tilley has confirmed that it is kept private and not shared with any outside agencies or companies.

This is a free program funded by a cooperative agreement grant with the USDA Risk Management Agency.

Those interested in applying will need the following documents to apply: FSA-578, CCC-866, an updated APH report, and a schedule of insurance. For more info, go to teamtilley.com .
