An autopsy has been scheduled for a pedestrian declared dead early Tuesday on Bobby Jones Expressway.

Emergency workers transported the victim to Wellstar MCG Health before death was pronounced at 12:44 a.m. Sept. 3, Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said Tuesday.

Bowen said one vehicle, perhaps two, struck the victim and left the scene at mile marker 16 on Interstate 520, near the exit onto Laney-Walker Boulevard. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
