Tropical Storm Helene has caused a ton of damage to Augusta, including depriving the community of one of the biggest events of the year.

This year’s IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta triathlon has been canceled, according to a post made on the major race’s Facebook page.

”The storm moved further east than expected overnight and key venues sustained substantial damage with downed power lines and trees, and an overwhelming amount of rainfall leading to flooding, all impacting the area,” officials wrote. “We understand the disappointment that this may cause, and further athlete updates will be communicated accordingly.”
