Hurricane Helene has caused yet more unfortunate news for Augustans.

Complications caused by the devastating storm have required the Augusta Greek Festival this weekend to be tentatively delayed to Oct. 17-20. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church confirmed the news Monday afternoon on its Facebook page .

For several years, the church has been a staple in the community. It only happens twice a year and is known for the lively dancing and music, beautiful keepsakes, and heaps of delicious food from feta fries and chicken souvlaki to baklava sundaes. The festival is also a primary fundraising event for the church's ministry.

Holy Trinity also announced on Facebook that a soup kitchen will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. which will continue Thursday and potentially Friday as food, help, and need permits.
