A Harlem High School student was recently arrested after allegedly threatening another student.

Administrators received reports of the threat and immediately contacted the Columbia County School District Police to investigate, according to a letter sent to parents.

The student, who has not been identified, has been charged and is also being held accountable according to the code of conduct, according to the letter.

"Safety of students and staff is a top priority," according to the school. "Threats of any nature will not be tolerated and will be investigated fully. Parents, please be aware of and discuss with your child that whenever a threat is posted or stated, infractions typically result in students being removed from school for the year and misdemeanor or felony charges."

Suspicious behavior should always be quickly reported to a school administrator, Columbia County School District Police, or by contacting the CCSD anonymous tip hotline at 706-541-3600.
