Overlea Farmers Market has emerged as one of Baltimore County’s summer fixtures, attracting entrepreneurs, residents and community leaders from all over the region.

Farmers markets are more than mere gathering places to buy and sale fresh fruit and produce — these venues bring community members together and create environments where people can build relationships, exchange resources and support one another.

Back for its ninth year, Overlea Farmers’ Market began June 8 and will run until Oct. 26. It reconvenes every other Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on parking lot of Natural History Society of Maryland, located at 6908 Belair Road in Overlea.

The dates for the remaining farmers markets are:

    Aug. 17 and 31Sept. 14 and 28Oct. 12 and 26

Enjoy fresh local seasonal produce, baked goods, coffee, pastured eggs and chicken, hot foods, fresh flowers, fresh bread, sauces, local honey, jams, olive oil, seasonings and more.

This market prides itself on featuring local products. Returning this summer is Kids Activity Table and themed market dates.

“My favorite part about the farmers market, and what it means to me at least, is community connections,” Overlea Community Association President Melissa Davis said.

The Farmers’ Market organizers expressed gratitude toward the Baltimore County government for its sustained funding and support. For more information and details, call 410-322-1273 or email overleafarmersmarket@gmail.com.
