The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin improving the pavement on a one-mile section of MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) between New Forge Road and Raphel Road in White Marsh on Sunday, Aug. 25, MDOT officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

The pavement improvement project will be complete by late fall if weather permits, officials said.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, crews will work overnight to patch, mill and resurface asphalt pavement. Between Sundays and Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., work will take place.

During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures and lane shifts on Philadelphia Road with flagging operations in effect where necessary.

The paving work is part of SHA’s highway maintenance program to improve safety and ride quality of pavements on state highways within Baltimore County. Contractor Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium will perform the paving work, MDOT officials said.

SHA aims to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for its crews as well and customers. Drivers are advised to stay alert, focus on driving and beware of reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
