This year’s final Essex Outdoor Movie Night was a massive success, according to event coordinators.

Held on the evening of Oct. 4, the Essex Community Development Corporation wrapped up the season with its third outdoor movie event in the Essex Senior Center’s parking lot.

More than 150 community members and Essex CDC supporters came out to watch “Inside Out 2” on the big screen.

The event also drew participation from local Cub Scout and Boy Scout groups, and several community resource providers including the Community Action Network (CAN), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC).

Local business owner Rob Sullivan from Baltimore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu located at 412 Eastern Blvd. shared information about youth and adult programs while “Miss Dee” provided balloon animals to lively children in the crowd.

Fat Boys Street Eats food truck, owned and operated by Essex resident Bobby Dorbit, provided food and refreshments.

The outdoor movie event was made possible with grant funding from Baltimore County Department of Planning’s Community Revitalization Action Grant Program, Essex CDC officials said. Essex CDC also teamed up with the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks, who provided the big screen.

“We are thrilled to be able to plan and host events like this that bring families together in our community,” Essex CDC Executive Director Chrissy Erb said.

“It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.”

Essex CDC, a nonprofit organization that recently opened an office on Eastern Boulevard, whose mission is to build a strong, vibrant, economically viable Essex.

The organization hosts events, programs, and initiatives aimed at revitalizing the commercial corridor in Essex and fostering a sense of solidarity and hope within the community. More background information is available on Essex CDC’s website and social media pages.
