Local art students revive a decaying statue
Art students from Chesapeake High School recently completed a project involving the restoration of the “Garden Fairy Statue.” Led by Chesapeake art teacher Kelsey Timpone, students worked together to restore the statue to a new level of beauty. The Garden Fairy Statue was donated to the Essex Co-op more than 20 years ago, and has gradually deteriorated over the years. Co-op member Toni Spagnolo thanks all fellow Essex Co-op members and Chesapeake High School for making this restoration project possible.

Del. Ric Metzgar gets grant for Kenwood's new turf field
Delegate Ric Metzgar was able to secure a $400,000 grant for the board of education of Baltimore County for Kenwood High School’s request for a turf field during the 2021 session of the Maryland General Assembly. This turf field was completed in 2024 and will be used by the football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and other athletic programs. Delegate Metzgar is a member of the Kenwood Class of 1973 and is a member of the Kenwood High School Hall of Fame in the government category. His photo and plaque are displayed in the new wing of the school along with the photos and plaques of former Baltimore County Executives Donald Hutchinson, Dennis Rasmussen and others in different categories.
