NEWLAND — Avery County High School hosted its annual Prom Night on Saturday, May 3, dancing across the floor of the Avery Agricultural Extension Community Building in Newland.

“Enchanted Forest” was the theme of the well-attended event, featuring a low light setting with many purple and white flowers, and more. Participants enjoyed some lively music blared by the deejay who kept the crowd pumped up and excited throughout the night.

Patrons also enjoyed a photo booth for themselves and their friends, as well as boards set up for friendly competition of cornhole.

The fun and good times didn’t end following the prom, however, as the Youth to Youth After Prom Party began at the YMCA Blackburn Facility at 10 p.m. and welcomed students until 2 a.m., featuring glow in the dark roller skating, free snacks, music and more. Skates were provided and there was no fee associated with the event.

Additional coverage of this year’s prom can be found inside this edition of The Avery Journal-Times.
