LINVILLE — Due to the lasting effects of the tropical storm’s path through our area, Grandfather Mountain will be closed until further notice for clean up and while we wait for electricity to be restored. The immediate area has suffered landslides, flooding and intense winds. We apologize for any inconvenience and encourage those in our area to stay safe.

“At this time, we are also not able to move reservations, give refunds or reach out to folks who have reservations made for the days we are closed. We will remedy these situations as we have access to power/internet,” Grandfather Mountain posted.

    Existing Grandfather Mountain records are:

Most Rain in One Day: 11.3 inches on Sept. 8, 2004Most Rain in Two Days: 12.15 inches on Sept. 7-8, 2004Most Rain in One Month: 32.3 inches in September 2004
