The spring season flies by. Blink and you’ll miss it.
With the regular season in the rearview mirror, now is the time for teams to fight for immortality by way of a deep playoff run; where wins and losses shoulder far more weight.
The regional quarterfinal round is set to get underway Wednesday. A day break later, the semifinals begin Friday. Then it’s on to the regional finals Monday, May 13. State quarterfinals will feature the eight region champions in each class reseeded and played on Wednesday, May 15. Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 is the state semifinal round at a predetermined neutral location.
The boys and girls lacrosse state championships will be held between May 21-23 at Stevenson University.
Here’s how Harford County teams shake out in each first round seeding:
Girls
Bel Air and Patterson Mill earned top seeds in the opening regional round. For both, that means a bye to the semis. The Bobcats will play Aberdeen on Friday, at a time to be determined. Patterson Mill will play the same evening against the winner of ACCE and Harford Tech.
No. 2-seeded Fallston, which pushed all the way to the state final last year before falling, 14-10, to Liberty, is restless for a similar run. That starts with a regional semifinal matchup on Friday against Havre de Grace.
Then there’s a chance to meet Patterson Mill or Harford Tech in the regional final –– both of which lost to the Cougars by double digits in the regular season.

Coach Patrick Mull has preached throughout the season that each up, down and turn is to prepare them for May.
