Pete Eibner returns as Perry Hall boys soccer coach

Pete Eibner, who coached the Perry Hall boys soccer team to its only state title in 2015, has returned to the position after a three-year hiatus.

In 2022, Eibner left the post after 11 seasons to focus more on his management and training positions at New Vision Soccer Academy in Joppa. After last year’s coach Yassine Iguidre stepped down, athletic director Bob Hruz approached Eibner, who jumped at the chance to return.

“I missed it a lot,” he said. “I love my job [at New Vision], but I missed the day-to-day coaching, the relationships with the players and the competition aspect. When Bob called and said Yassine moved on to another job and asked would I be interested, after consideration and discussion with my business partners, it was all systems go. I’m pretty excited about it.”

Eibner, an Archbishop Curley and UMBC graduate, went 116-51-10 in his first stint at Perry Hall after taking over in 2011.

The Gators reached the Class 4A state semifinals in his first two seasons, won two Baltimore County championships in five title game appearances and a state title. Hruz is excited to have him back.

“Perry Hall High School and the boys soccer program could not be happier about the return of Coach Pete. Having a leader for our team with his abilities is a huge asset to our program,” he said. “We believe with Coach Pete at the helm, our program will once again be in contention for county, regional and state championships.”

Eibner is eager to make another positive impact on the program.

“The wins and losses are a big part of it, but I believe we played for a higher purpose at Perry Hall,” he said.  “There was brotherhood involved, fun and friendships, the academic excellence we strived for, the self-discipline and accountability to each other. That was all great stuff and I’m excited to either continue that or build that back in. I missed it all, so it will be fine to get back on the sidelines.”
