Hot streaks
Teams that are playing at the top of their games

Sparrows Point girls soccer : The reigning Class 2A state champions are 5-0. The Pointers are averaging four goals a game and have scored at least three in every match so far this season.
Hereford boys soccer: The Bulls hit a minor speed bump last week, tying Towson, 1-1 , but overall it’s been a spectacular start to the season. They are 6-0-1 and averaging more than three goals a game.
Towson girls soccer: A 1-0 nonconference loss to Carroll County champion Century is the only blemish on its record so far. Since that loss, Towson has beaten Bryn Mawr, Dulaney and Catonsville by a combined score of 10-1.
Parkville boys soccer: The Knights are off to one of the best starts among Division II teams. Their 4-0 record includes six-goal outings against Milford Mill and Patapsco.
Pikesville volleyball: The Panthers have run out to a 4-0 start, establishing themselves as the team to beat in Division III. They’ve already claimed sweeps of Woodlawn, Lansdowne, Owings Mills and Overlea.

Quotable
“I just wanted everyone to be hyped and be happy and like everyone’s happy when we win and we play good, so when we scored those first goals like the bench and everyone went wild, so that’s what I wanted.” — Towson girls soccer’s Koto Davis on her team beating Dulaney, 4-1, on her birthday.
“It’s all things we can work on as the season goes on. We’re always looking to find things to work on in order to improve. We have plenty of it already and we’ll just add this to the list.” — Hereford boys soccer coach Adam Mizell after a 1-1 tie against Towson.
