After clinching a postseason berth Tuesday, the Orioles plan to celebrate the historic occasion with a playoff rally Monday at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater.

The “Be the Noise” event is scheduled to take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will include a guest appearance from Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. The party, which celebrates the Orioles making the postseason in consecutive years for the first time since 1996-97, is free to attend.

In addition to Scott’s appearance, former Orioles left-handed pitcher Scott McGregor, the Oriole Bird and Mr. Splash will attend the rally. The celebration plans to include music from DJ Mighty Mark as well as food trucks, games and giveaways. Among the giveaways is the opportunity to win a pair of Orioles playoff tickets.

Baltimore clinched its postseason appearance Tuesday night with a win over the New York Yankees and a loss by the Minnesota Twins. Barring a miraculous finish requiring Baltimore to win its final five games and New York to lose its final five, the Orioles won’t win the AL East this season. They are, however, in an ideal position to host a wild-card series.

Entering Wednesday’s games, the Orioles held a four-game lead over both the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals for the American League’s top wild-card spot. If Baltimore maintains its lead for the No. 4 seed, the Orioles are guaranteed to host a best-of-three wild-card series beginning Tuesday. Single-game tickets for Baltimore’s playoff run are available after going on sale earlier this month.

Baltimore’s most likely opening-round playoff opponents include Detroit, Kansas City, Minnesota and the Seattle Mariners. If the season ended before Wednesday’s games, Baltimore would host Kansas City in the wild-card series. The Orioles are 4-2 against the Royals this season, but the teams haven’t met since April. Baltimore started the season as one of the hottest teams in baseball, but it has since cooled off in the second half of the season.

The MLB playoffs begin Tuesday and continue through at least Oct. 29.
