    Across the fields in Baltimore County: A look at the top high school sports teams, players and more (Oct. 11)

    Here’s a look at some of the top high school teams and players in Baltimore County:

    Hot streaks

    Teams that are playing at the top of their games

    Hereford volleyball : After losing their first three matches of the season, two in five sets, the Bulls haven’t lost since. They have won eight straight matches and swept Eastern Tech on Wednesday, avenging one of their five-set defeats. Their other five-set defeat came to unbeaten Dulaney, whom the Bulls face Tuesday.

    Overlea boys cross country: The Falcons hosted the fourth annual Flying Falcon Invitational on Saturday and defended home turf, beating out five other schools for first place. Overlea’s Calvin Kagundu won the race in 18:17.

    Franklin girls soccer : The Indians are 6-1 this season and have yet to lose to a county opponent. They’ve won their last five games, averaging nearly five goals a game.

    Hereford boys soccer: The Bulls are 10-0-1, including a 5-0-1 mark in Division I. They have yet to allow more than two goals in any game and since a 1-1 tie with Towson on Sept. 19, the Bulls won their next five matches by a combined score of 10-2.

    Pikesville volleyball: The Panthers are still unbeaten this season in Division III play, now at 8-0. They have only dropped two sets all season.

    Hereford field hockey: The Bulls have won seven straight games and are unbeaten in county play. They’ve outscored opponents 30-3 during the winning streak, highlighted by a 2-1 victory Tuesday against Towson, who also entered the game unbeaten in county play.

    Players who have been clutch performers for their teams

    Oskar Lyp, Eastern Tech, boys soccer : The Mavericks’ netminder has recorded two shutouts this season, most recently on Oct. 1 against Towson in a 1-0. He has also shared two shutouts, splitting time in goal with teammate Anthony Baca-Fuentes.

    Mikayla Kurcoba, Perry Hall, field hockey: Kurcoba scored five goals over two games for the Gators last week, including four in a win over Patapsco.

    Ally Foos, Sparrows Point, girls soccer: The Pointers goalkeeper has been the anchor behind the team’s 8-1 record. She had six saves Friday against reigning 1A state champ Havre de Grace in a 7-2 Pointers win, seven saves in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Perry Hal,l and 14 saves in a 3-0 nonconference win over Patterson Mill on Oct. 4.

    Alexandra Lohse, Towson, cross country: Lohse was the top local finisher in the Black and Gold division race at the Maryland XC Invitational at Shawan Downs. She finished 13th in 19:05.09.

    Hamin Oladokun, Pikesville, boys soccer: Oladokun has been a prolific playmaker this season for the Panthers, recording 10 goals so far on the year.

    Talia Oberfeld, Franklin, field hockey : Oberfeld scored in overtime Tuesday against Catonsville, giving the Indians a 4-3 victory.

    2 Hat tricks Eastern Tech boys soccer’s Dylan Dunn has this year against Franklin.

    4 — Minutes left when Catonsville girls soccer’s Maggie Hicks scored from 20 yards out for a 3-2 win over Hereford on Wednesday.

    5 — Sweeps in the last six matches for Dulaney volleyball.

    7 — Years it had been since Randallstown boys soccer’s last win. The Rams won for the first time since 2017 on Oct. 4 when they beat Owings Mills 2-0. Jeffrey Okogun and Malachi Akinduro scored in the win. Zion Nnolim had the shutout in goal.

    20 — Saves for Carver A&T boys soccer’s Bennett Laut on Monday in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win over Patapsco.
