    Calhoun County to be focus of upcoming 'Under the Radar Michigan'

    BATTLE CREEK — A new episode of "Under the Radar Michigan" will feature some Calhoun County gems.

    The PBS show, hosted by Tom Daldin and produced by Jim Edelman, highlights their travel around Michigan finding fun things to do and see.

    Here's how you can watch it:

    The show will air 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 on WGVU, according to the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau.

    Clara’s on the River will be hosting a premiere party on Sept. 12, playing the episode on multiple TVs. The Calhoun County Visitors Bureau recommend getting there at 8 p.m., so you can get a seat and order food in time for the 8:30 p.m. show.

    The episode will include:

    • Clara’s on the River
    • Cornwell’s Turkeyville in Marshall
    • Albion Malleable Brewing Co. in Albion
    • Station 66 – a retro roadside stop with food and Michigan products.

    What featured business owners had to say

    “Working with the guys from ‘Under the Radar’ was a lot of fun,” Curt Tramel, co-owner of Station 66, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see how they put together all of the video and interviews into a final piece.”

    “It was an honor to share our family’s history and business with a Michigan-based show,” said Elyse Bibbings, a descendant of the original Cornwell family, said in a statement. “We love the memories that are shared with us through the years from customers that have advocated for us to be on the show.”

    Ben Wade makes beer at Albion Malleable Brewing, while his wife Jenny makes chocolate at Yellow Bird. The family businesses will be featured together.

    “Jenny and I were both thrilled to be able to share a little taste of downtown Albion with ‘Under the Radar!’” Ben Wade said in a statement. “It's always a joy to talk about our businesses and community that we are so passionate about.”

    “Spending the afternoon with Tom Daldin and his crew at Clara’s on the River could not have been more fun,” said Ross Simpson, owner of Clara’s. “We love ‘Under the Radar Michigan,’ and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be featured in the upcoming episode on Battle Creek!”
