    BATTLE CREEK - Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Oaklawn Hospital.

    Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all the spring sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

    Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will be featured in an Athlete of the Week spotlight story in the Sunday edition of the Enquirer. Fans can vote for their favorite athlete until Wednesday at 5 p.m.

    Brandon Baker

    Marshall Boys Soccer

    Marshall clinched its first Interstate 8 Conference title in boys soccer in three years with a dramatic winner-take-all 1-0 victory over Coldwater. Sophomore Brandon Baker scored on a thumping header on a corner kick in the second half for the game-winning goal. Baker also played standout defense, helping to shut out a high-scoring Coldwater club.

    Chase Nichols

    Harper Creek Football

    Harper Creek senior running back Chase Nichols helped the Beavers stay in first place in the Interstate 8 Conference with a key 32-13 win over Parma Western on Friday. Nichols gave his team momentum in the second half with an 80-yard touchdown run. Nichols finished with 200 yards rushing on 19 carries and two scores.

    Greg Williams

    Battle Creek Central Football

    Battle Creek Central broke a 16-game losing streak with a 54-39 win over Gull Lake. Greg Williams, in his first start at quarterback on the season, had two touchdown runs and threw two touchdown passes in the win. Williams led the Bearcats with 133 yards rushing on 17 carries.

    Haley Willi

    Harper Creek Girls Golf

    Harper Creek freshman golfer Haley Willi has had a breakout first year on the varsity, finishing the league season with the top scoring average in the Interstate 8 Conference. Willi helped the Beavers to a league title by taking first in the conference individually. She also placed third at the All-City Meet as Harper Creek finished as city champs.
