NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame marked a significant milestone on Sunday with its 179th Commencement Ceremony, celebrating the graduation of the Class of 2024. This year, 2,275 undergraduate students received their degrees, joining the ranks of Notre Dame alumni.

The ceremony was particularly noteworthy as it was presided over by University President Rev. John Jenkins for the last time before he stepped down at the end of the month. Rev. Jenkins, who has led the university for 19 years, was also this year’s commencement speaker and a recipient of an honorary degree. He will be returning to his roots in teaching and ministry at Notre Dame after his tenure as president.

In his address, Rev. Jenkins reflected on his nearly two decades of leadership and offered words of wisdom and encouragement to the new graduates. He emphasized the importance of carrying forward the values and education received at Notre Dame into their future endeavors.

The graduation ceremony, held on the university’s picturesque campus, was attended by families, friends, faculty, and alumni who gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the students. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as the graduates donned their caps and gowns and took the final steps of their academic journey.

Congratulations to all the new graduates on reaching this significant milestone! Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and the future holds endless possibilities.
