SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The City of South Bend has scheduled two public meetings to discuss updates to the Portage-Elwood Visioning Plan. These sessions aim to review the 2018 plan and collect feedback from the community.

The first meeting is set for Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Community Learning Center, located at 737 Beale St. The second meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Muessel Elementary School, situated at 1021 Blaine Ave.

City officials are encouraging all community members to attend these meetings to voice their opinions and contribute to the planning process. The goal is to ensure the updated vision reflects the needs and aspirations of the neighborhood’s residents, businesses, institutions, and other stakeholders.

The original Portage-Elwood Visioning Plan was established in 2018 through a collaborative effort involving various community members and organizations. This update process continues that tradition of inclusive planning, aiming to incorporate diverse perspectives and suggestions.

In addition to the meetings, a survey is available for residents and community members to provide their input. The survey will remain open until June 12, allowing for extensive community engagement. Those interested in participating can find more information about the meetings, the planning process, and access the survey through the city's official channels.

By attending these events and participating in the survey, South Bend residents have the opportunity to shape the future of their community. City officials look forward to hearing from the public and working together to create a vibrant and sustainable vision for the Portage-Elwood area.
