NEW CARLISLE, Ind. — The New Prairie Cougars have built a reputation for excellence, a standard they intend to uphold as they charge into the new football season. Over the past three years, the Cougars have clinched three consecutive sectional championships, amassing an impressive 35-8 record. This season, they're determined to keep the momentum going.

Head coach Casey McKim emphasized the team's commitment to maintaining their winning tradition. “It’s about reaching our full potential so we can achieve postseason success,” McKim said. “These players know what it takes—they’ve witnessed the hard work and dedication required to go deep into the playoffs. The experience they've gained, even from early days on the scout team, has prepared them for the challenges ahead.”

Senior right tackle James Snyder echoed this sentiment, highlighting the team's disciplined approach. “It’s about doing our jobs and handling our responsibilities, just like last year and the year before. We come out here focused, ready to do what needs to be done.”

This season brings new faces to the forefront, particularly junior Reed Robinson, who steps into the quarterback role after serving as a running back last year, where he ran for 10 touchdowns. Robinson is known for his explosive playmaking ability, making him a dual-threat on the field.

“Reed has the capacity to create big, game-changing plays,” McKim noted. “He’s one of the fastest athletes in our program and brings both strength and agility. He can grind out tough yards but also has the speed to break away for a touchdown.”

On defense, the Cougars will rely on familiar leaders, with top tacklers Hayden Scott and Harrison Groves returning to anchor the unit. Scott emphasized the team's aggressive mentality. “It’s all about aggression and fearlessness, never backing down,” Scott said. “That’s what was instilled in me when I first started playing, and now, as a senior, I’m passing that mindset on to the younger players.”

As the season opener approaches, the Cougars are poised to continue their winning tradition, driven by a blend of seasoned leadership and emerging talent. Their journey begins at home on Friday, August 23, with a highly anticipated matchup against rival LaPorte. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CDT.
