ELKHART, Ind. — Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Africa at the Taste of Africa Festival, hosted by the Tolson Center for Community Excellence this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

This lively event promises a rich tapestry of African culture, featuring an African fashion runway, live music, and an art showcase. The festival is a collaborative effort with Kate Joyo, the culinary mastermind behind Kate’s Kitchen, who will be serving up traditional African dishes, adding an authentic touch to the celebration.

"The richness of Africa is amazing, and being able to provide authentic representation from my native country is a great opportunity,” Joyo said. Her culinary contributions will be a highlight of the festival, bringing a taste of Africa to Elkhart.

Breanna Allen, Executive Director at Tolson Center, emphasized the event’s mission: “We are excited to partner with local entrepreneurs in our community to bring cultural experiences to Tolson and the Benham Neighborhood.”

In addition to savoring delectable cuisine, attendees can explore and purchase unique African fashion and art. The festival aims to foster cross-cultural understanding and celebrate diversity within the community.

Join the celebration at the Tolson Center, located at 1320 Benham Ave, and experience the rich heritage of Africa in your own backyard.
