WALKERTON, IN — As the 2024 football season approaches, John Glenn High School is embracing a transformative chapter under new leadership and a refreshed team culture. Assistant Principal Ron Brown steps into the role of head coach, bringing a wealth of experience and a vision for change to the Falcons.

Brown takes over following the resignation of former coach John Barron, who departed after facing serious charges. Known for his success with Triton High School, where he secured a sectional title in 2018, Brown is now focused on reshaping the John Glenn football program.

"The coaches we have are crucial in this transition," Brown says, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and daily dedication. "Seeing the players up close during practice has given me a deeper understanding of their potential."

The shift in culture is already palpable among the players. Senior tight end and linebacker Julian McMahan notes a significant positive change: "Last year's culture was solid, but this year, it's evolved for the better. We're building something special."

Brown's emphasis on a family-oriented approach is creating strong bonds among the team members. "This new mindset helps players rely on each other and trust in their collective effort," he explains.

The Falcons, coming off a 7-5 season, are stepping into the competitive Indiana Northern State Conference. Despite the challenges, there is optimism and determination within the team.

"I like the new conference," says senior running back and safety Walter Drews. "It's not just about small teams. We need to play our game and not back down."

Senior lineman Myles Cheaton adds, "There are many strong teams, and we have to work hard. The team that plays the best will come out on top."

With a positive attitude and a unified team spirit, John Glenn is poised for a promising season. The Falcons kick off their journey this Friday at Boone Grove, ready to make their mark in the new conference.
