St. Joseph County, Ind. – A long-awaited community project in Harris Township is finally gaining momentum as the Harris Township Board approved a crucial resolution on Wednesday, paving the way for the development of Anderson Road Park. This step marks a significant advancement toward transforming the township’s vision into reality after years of advocacy and planning.

The resolution, a key milestone in the park’s development, grants the township authority to finalize agreements with the St. Joseph County Board of Memorandum and move forward with detailed design plans. The collaborative effort between the township and the Parks Department reflects a shared commitment to making productive use of the land, which has been under public ownership for over two decades.

"It’s been a long road, advocating for this project for years," said Harris Township Trustee Ken Lindsay. "Thankfully, the Parks Department and the township share the same objective: to make public use of that land. We’re almost there, and I have no doubt it’s going to happen at this point, based on what’s been happening the last two days."

Lindsay expressed optimism that the park could be completed sometime next year, offering residents a new space for recreation and community gathering. As the project moves into the design phase, the community’s anticipation continues to build, signaling a new chapter for Harris Township’s public spaces.
