Indiana’s Harvest Accelerates: Corn and Soybeans Surge Ahead of Five-Year Average

Indiana farmers are seeing significant progress in this year's corn and soybean harvest, with efforts advancing well beyond historical averages. According to the USDA’s latest crop progress report, 12% of Indiana's corn has been harvested, a substantial leap compared to the five-year average of 6%. Additionally, 95% of the crop has reached the dented stage, with 67% now mature. Despite a slight dip from last week, 61% of the corn crop is still rated as good to excellent.

Soybean harvests are also showing strong results, with 16% of the crop harvested and 61% maintaining good to excellent ratings.

In terms of soil conditions, 21% of topsoil moisture and 23% of subsoil moisture are rated as adequate to surplus, indicating that the land remains in relatively stable condition to support further harvesting efforts.

This accelerated progress underscores the resilience of Indiana's agriculture, even with minor fluctuations in crop ratings.
