    With the IHSAA football season hitting the halfway mark, it’s time to recognize the South Bend area athletes who have made a significant impact on the field. The South Bend Tribune has compiled a Midseason Player of the Year watchlist featuring twelve exceptional players who have shone brightly so far this season. While there may be other contenders, these athletes have demonstrated impressive performances that warrant recognition.

    Midseason Player of the Year Watchlist:

    1. Bo Brunner, Concord (Junior)
      • Passing: 74-98, 937 yards, 11 TDs, 3 INTs
      • Rushing: 90 yards, 2 TDs
      • Notable: Averaging 37.6 yards per punt; Concord remains unbeaten.
    2. Jaron Thomas, Concord (Senior)
      • Rushing: 643 yards, 7 TDs
      • Defense: 71 tackles
      • Notable: Purdue commit and standout two-way player.
    3. Carson Cebra, Edwardsburg (MI) (Senior)
      • Rushing: 425 yards, 4 TDs
      • Notable: Key contributor to the Eddies’ 3-1 start.
    4. Kros Jones, Elkhart (Sophomore)
      • Defense: 28 tackles (15 for loss), 3 sacks
      • Notable: Emerging star in a talented defensive lineup.
    5. Adrian Holley, Michigan City (Senior)
      • Defense: 43 tackles (11 for loss), 4 sacks
      • Notable: Committed to the University of Kansas, also plays on the offensive line.
    6. Jackson Snyder, Mishawaka (Senior)
      • Rushing: 230 yards, 3 TDs
      • Defense: Team-leading 51 tackles, 1 INT
      • Notable: Strong defensive presence.
    7. Kaleb Johnson, Mishawaka Marian (Senior)
      • Defense: 30 tackles (11 for loss), 4 sacks
      • Notable: Consistently disruptive in opposing backfields.
    8. Sam Rucker, Niles (MI) (Senior)
      • Rushing: 404 yards, 9 TDs
      • Kickoff returns: 193 yards, 1 TD
      • Notable: Also averages 35 yards per punt.
    9. Micah Jarrell, NorthWood (Sophomore)
      • Passing: 709 yards, 9 TDs, 2 INTs

      • Notable: Strong performance as a starting quarterback.
    10. Tayshon Bardo, Penn (Junior)
      • Receiving: 16 catches, 284 yards, 7 TDs
      • Notable: Contributing to Kingsmen’s solid 4-1 record.
    11. Mur'i Jackson, South Bend Riley (Sophomore)
      • Defense: 32 tackles (10 for loss), 2 sacks
      • Notable: Versatile player with a touchdown in four games.
    12. AJ LaSane, South Bend Saint Joseph (Sophomore)
      • Passing: 62 completions on 116 attempts, 791 yards, 6 TDs
      • Notable: Key player for the 3-2 Huskies.
