After more than four decades of dedicated service, Goshen Fire Chief Dan Sink has earned a prestigious statewide recognition—being named Indiana Fire Chief of the Year. Just weeks before his retirement, Sink’s remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to public safety were honored by his peers within the fire service.

Sink, who has spent over 40 years serving the Goshen community—19 of those as fire chief—expressed both humility and pride in receiving the award. "I am both honored and humbled to receive the award for Fire Chief of the Year," Sink shared in a statement from the City of Goshen. "What makes this so very special is that the nomination comes from the peers you work with in fire service. I am further honored to represent the Goshen Fire Department and the City of Goshen."

Throughout his career, Sink has been a cornerstone of Goshen’s public safety efforts, guiding the department through evolving challenges while fostering a deep sense of community trust. His leadership has not only strengthened the department internally but has also helped establish Goshen as a model for other fire services across Indiana.

As Chief Sink approaches his November retirement, the recognition comes as a well-deserved capstone to a career marked by dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to the safety of Goshen's citizens. The community now looks ahead to honoring his legacy and finding a successor who can continue to build on his outstanding work.

Sink's recognition as Fire Chief of the Year stands as a testament to his lasting impact—not only on his department but on fire services across the state.
