SOUTH BEND, Ind.After serving the community for years as a hub for donations and discounted home goods, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in South Bend will close on November 1. This decision marks a strategic shift in focus, allowing the organization to concentrate fully on its primary mission—building homes for families in need.

While the ReStore has been a staple for those looking to donate or find affordable furniture, appliances, and materials, Habitat for Humanity sees this closure as an opportunity to streamline its efforts. By redirecting resources to homebuilding projects, the organization hopes to enhance its impact on the lives of local families.

In the weeks leading up to the closure, the South Bend ReStore will hold sales, giving community members a final chance to support the store. However, donations will no longer be accepted, and the store has already ceased operations on Mondays.

Though the closing of the ReStore represents the end of an era for South Bend, it is also a sign of Habitat for Humanity's continued commitment to addressing the housing crisis and improving the lives of those in need.
