Despite a modest population increase of just 1% from 2000 to 2023, Roberson's optimism shines bright. To that end, the city has invested significantly in community infrastructure. Major projects include the revitalization of the historic ELCO Theater, which aims to bring shows and concerts to downtown Elkhart, and the development of a new 6,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, poised to become a cultural hub for the region. These investments are not merely bricks and mortar; they represent a commitment to fostering community engagement and celebration.

Elkhart's resurgence is further buoyed by a surprising boom in the RV industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, where demand for recreational vehicles soared as families sought safe ways to travel and experience the great outdoors. This dual focus on enhancing community spaces and capitalizing on local industry trends exemplifies Elkhart's innovative approach to economic recovery.

Roberson embodies a philosophy of proactive growth, adopting an “If you build it, they will come” mindset as he lays the groundwork for Elkhart’s future. “Even if the growth is small now, we are paving the way for a bustling community,” he asserted, reflecting a hopeful vision for a city on the rise.
