Wolverines Unveil 2025 Schedule: A Championship Year Ahead

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Excitement is building at the University of Michigan as the men's gymnastics team prepares for a thrilling 2025 season, head coach Yuan Xiao announced on Monday (Oct. 14). The Wolverines will not only host three regular-season home meets but also the prestigious Big Ten Championships and NCAA Championships at Crisler Center.

The season kicks off with the annual Maize and Blue intrasquad meet on December 7, offering a sneak peek at the team’s talent before they officially launch their campaign. The Wolverines will welcome Greenville and Simpson to Cliff Keen Arena on January 11, marking the start of their competitive journey.

On January 18, Michigan will travel to the Windy City Invitational at Navy Pier in Chicago, where they aim to defend their title from 2024. Following this, the team will compete on the road at Springfield College on January 25, before entering conference play at Penn State on February 1.

Back at home, the Wolverines will host Illinois on February 8, then head to Oklahoma on February 15. The regular season wraps up with two critical meets: Ohio State at home on March 15 and a finale at Nebraska on March 21.

The pinnacle of the season arrives as Michigan hosts the Big Ten Championships on April 4-5, where they will strive for a fifth consecutive title—their longest streak since a six-year championship run from 1961 to 1966. The last time Michigan hosted the Big Ten Championships in 2018, they finished as runners-up to Illinois.

In a highly anticipated moment for fans, the NCAA Championships will also take place in Ann Arbor, with the qualifying rounds scheduled for April 18 and the finals on April 19. The Wolverines have consistently showcased their prowess, finishing in the top five at the last five NCAA Championship meets, including back-to-back runner-up finishes. Michigan last hosted the NCAA Championships in 2014, clinching the national title with a score of 445.050.

The team boasts a strong roster, returning 14 gymnasts who competed at the 2024 NCAA Championships, including five All-Americans and national champion Paul Juda, who excelled in the all-around. Notably, 2024 Big Ten individual champions Landen Blixt (floor exercise) and Fred Richard (all-around) will also be back in action. Juda and Richard represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, contributing to a bronze medal—a historic first team medal since 2008.

All regular-season meets will be held at Cliff Keen Arena with free admission, while tickets for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships will go on sale in 2025. With a promising roster and a challenging schedule ahead, the Wolverines are poised for an unforgettable season that could redefine their legacy.
