After three days of voting, Hasbrouck Heights sophomore Michael Napolitano was selected as the North Jersey Track and Field Performer of the Week.

Friday night Napolitano won the 100 meters at the Lou Lanzalotto Bergen Meet of Champions, breaking a 38-year-old school record in the process. Saturday afternoon, he anchored the Aviator 4-x-100 relay to second at the County Seat Invitational, in 44.00 seconds, another school record.

    Here were the other nominees:

    Christina Allen

    River Dell senior

Allen became just the fourth girl to win four straight titles in the same event when she ran a North Jersey leading 5:01.54 for 1,600 meters at the Bergen County Meet of Champions.

    Kylie Castillo

    Ridgefield senior

The Columbia bound Castillo broke the meet record and came within .30 of the county record by running 54.98 to win the Bergen Meet of Champions 400 and earn the Jacob Brown Award as the outstanding girls track athlete at the meet.

    Jaden Marchan

    Leonia senior

At Friday's 53rd Bergen Meet of Champions, Marchan became the first boy to win both the 200 and 400 at the same meet, setting a meet record in the latter event in 47.30, just .13 second off the Bergen record. For good measure his 47.24 split helped the Lions to fourth in the 4-x-400 relay.

    Benji Shue

    Bergen Catholic junior

The winner of the Ed Church Award for outstanding field performance at the Bergen Meet of Champions, Shue set meet records in both the discus (201-9) and shot (68-0) and came within three inches of breaking the 39-year-old Bergen County record in the latter event.

    Julia Tozduman

    Lyndhurst senior

The Sacred Heart bound Golden Bear won the BMOC long jump and had the best three jumps in the competition. She's the first Lyndhurst girl to win a jumping event at the meet. She also finished fourth in the triple jump.
