    See the most expensive homes sold in each North Jersey county in July

    A $16.7 million estate that was once home to a hedge-funder, a luxury property on a vast 10.7-acre lot and a more than 10,000-square-foot English manor that is the highest selling home in Short Hills this year were among the priciest properties to sell in North Jersey in July.

    In addition to this, one of this month's most expensive properties was sold through a private sale, while another was listed after a foreclosure.

    Here's a look at the priciest homes sold in each North Jersey county in July:

    Bergen County

    4 Stone Tower Drive, Alpine — $16.7 million

    Initially listed for $20 million in January 2023, the sale of 4 Stone Tower Drive in Alpine was finalized on July 17 for $16.7 million. This made it the most expensive single-family property to sell in all of North Jersey both last month and so far in 2024. The home was listed by Rosemarie Campi and bought with Richard Orlando, both agents with Prominent Properties Sotheby's International Realty.

    Designed by Morristown-based architect James Paragano, this seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom gated mansion was built in 2004 and offers nearly 23,000-square-feet of living space on 4 acres of manicured property. Inside, you'll find a two-lane bowling alley, a 12-seat theater, a game room and a fitness center. There's also a primary suite with a bathroom and walk-in closet, several office spaces, a wine cellar and a newly updated kitchen by Wyckoff-based kitchen designer Peter Salerno. Other features of the property include a pool, cabana, tennis court, guest house and putting green.

    The property was also once home to Dede Sheoris-Levitt, ex-wife of hedge-funder Michael, Levitt, with whom she once shared the home. Levitt initially purchased the home in 2002 for $2.9 million.

    Passaic County

    7 Allwood Place, Clifton — $1.425 million

    The home at 7 Allwood Place in Clifton was sold for $1.425 million on July 15. The property was purchased as part of a private sale and was last sold for $226,000 in October 1993, according to Passaic County deed records. Built in 1956, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom home boasts 3,623-square-feet of living space on a .11-acre lot.

    12 Mendham Road, Chester Township — $4.55 million

    The estate at 12 Mendham Road in Chester Township was on the market for less than two months before it officially sold for $4.55 million on July 12. The property was listed by Nan Reil of Coldwell Banker Realty, and bought with Stacey Rogers of Turpin Real Estate.

    With 7,700-square-feet of living space on a vast 10.7-acre lot, this four-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate was custom built in 2022. It features a gourmet kitchen with designer finishes and state-of-the-art appliances, a butler's pantry, a first-floor primary suite, several living room areas and more. Outside of the home, there is a pool house, an outdoor cooking area, a dining space and a pool.

    2 Jefferson Ave., Short Hills — $5.4 million

    Holding the record for the most expensive single-family property sold in both Short Hills and Essex County so far in 2024, 2 Jefferson Ave. officially sold for $5.4 million on July 2. Both listed by and bought with Arlene Gonnella of Weichert Realtors, the home had been on the market since March 2023 before attracting offers from three different buyers.

    This seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom English-style manor was expanded and restored by David Rosen of Summit-based Rosen Kelly Conway Architecture and Design Firm. With 10,336-square-feet of living space on 1.83 acres, the home features a gourmet kitchen designed by Matthew Quinn; a family room with a fireplace; a formal music room, a conservatory; a home office with built-ins; and a wood-paneled library with a fireplace. Other luxury amenities include a golf simulator, a state-of-the-art exercise room, a temperature-controlled wine cellar and more.

    Sussex County

    3 Quarterhorse Crossing, Sparta — $1.55 million

    Listed for sale in March after a foreclosure, the estate at 3 Quarterhorse Crossing in Sparta sold for $1.55 million on July 22. The listing was represented by Cesar A. Isaza of Realty Executives Exceptional, and bought with Scott Raghubir of Weichert Realtors.

    This six-bedroom, six-bathroom Colonial home boasts 1.7 acres of land. Features of the home include a grand double staircase, a large family room with a fireplace, a conservatory, a solarium room, a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances and a center island, a wine cooler and a finished basement with French doors that lead to an outdoor patio.

    1024 Garden St., Hoboken — $3.65 million

    Located along a row of brownstones in Hoboken, the townhouse at 1024 Garden St. sold for $3.65 million on July 12. The property was listed by Kaja Bolton of Christie's International Real Estate and bought with James Ristagno of Coldwell Banker Realty.

    With 4,000-square-feet of living space spread across four floors and a basement, the home boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a family room, a renovated eat-in kitchen with high-end appliances and a beverage fridge, a primary suite with two walk-in closets, a desk area, custom built-ins and a reading room. The home also has a spacious garden with trees, raised flower beds and a large area with artificial grass.
