PARAMUS − When Malachi Goodman walked into Paramus Catholic football practice on Tuesday afternoon, his teammates had the Penn State fight song cued up and ready.

“We Are,” Goodman said with a smile.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound tackle offensive tackle committed to the Nittany Lions on Tuesday, ending a long recruiting journey that included offers from Southern Cal, Ohio State and Auburn, among others.

“Those guys seemed pretty excited,” Paramus Catholic coach Greg Russo said to Goodman, talking about his teammates greeting.

NorthJersey.com was at Paramus Catholic on Tuesday filming a "100 Yards" video interview with Goodman, the last major North Jersey football recruit in the Class of 2025 who hadn’t committed to a school.

Goodman, rated as a four-star recruit by most national recruiting services, cited Nittany Lions offensive line coach Phil Trautwein as a major factor in his decision to commit to Penn State.

Paramus Catholic is 1-0 after holding off St. Peter’s Prep 48-47, in a wild game on Friday. The Paladins play at Pope John (0-1) on Saturday.
