Trees crashed into some homes in Bergen County on Saturday afternoon after a fast-moving storm blew into the area, police confirmed.

Trees fell onto homes in Maywood, Hackensack and Wyckoff, reports said. Maywood and Hackensack police said there were no injuries.

"Multiple city departments are evaluating the damage and making the proper notifications," said Hackensack Capt. Michael Antista.

Winds reached 15 mph in some parts of Bergen County as a cold front produced thunderstorms that "moved rapidly" in a northeasterly direction through the region, said Bob Ziff, a spokesman for North Jersey Weather Observers.

In Maywood, a tree struck a home on Spring Valley Avenue around 3:45 p.m. In nearby Hackensack, a tree fell onto several structures on Krone Place around 4 p.m. And in Wyckoff, a tree crashed into a home on Monroe Avenue around 4:20 p.m. It is not yet known if there were any injuries in the Wyckoff incident.

Joe Pollina, a National Weather Service meteorologist, was surprised that trees were downed during the storm since wind speeds did not appear to be excessive in the region. "We’re seeing some very brief heavy rain with a cold front running through," he said.
