The San Francisco 49ers are without their top dual threat weapon on offense as running back Christian McCaffrey was ruled out for tonight's matchup against the Jets.

McCaffrey, who was listed as questionable on the injury report coming into the Week 1 matchup, headlined the inactive list for the team less than 90 minutes before the opening kickoff.

This is a huge blow to the 49ers as it's his first missed game with the organization since being traded to the Bay Area in the middle of the 2022 season.

It's not an ideal start for McCaffrey, who led the NFL with a career-high 1,459 rushing yards in 2023 and hauled in 67 receptions for 564 yards with 21 total touchdowns and was named AP's Offensive Player of the Year in his first full season with San Francisco.

The 49ers will now rely on second string RB Jordan Mason to be the starting back behind QB Brock Purdy versus the Jets .
