The Giants (0-1) are on the road for the first time this season as they make the short trip to D.C. to face the Commanders (0-1) in Week 2 at Northwest Stadium.

Week 1 was a forgetful one for the Giants, as they scored a league low six points in a 28-6 defeat at the hands of the Vikings on Sunday.

The turnover issues continue for QB Daniel Jones, as he threw two interceptions -- including a pick-six -- and was sacked five times in the loss.

It wasn't much better for the Commanders, who despite a decent showing from No. 2 overall pick QB Jayden Daniels, couldn't get any stops on defense as they were gashed by Bucs QB Baker Mayfield (289 yards, four touchdowns completed 80 percent of his passes) in a 27-20 loss at Raymond James Stadium.

Our prognosticators throughout the season are: Art Stapleton (Giants/NFL writer, NorthJersey.com), Bert Bainbridge (sports betting analyst/columnist, NorthJersey.com), Steve Edelson (columnist, APP.com), Vince Mercogliano (Rangers/NHL columnist, lohud.com), Brian Marron (digital producer, NorthJersey.com), Chris Iseman (Rutgers writer, NorthJersey.com), Bob Jordan (sports editor, Asbury Park Press/APP.com), and Dave Rivera (sports editor, USA TODAY Northeast/NorthJersey.com).

Here's our staff standings following Big Blue's loss in Week 1:

    Steve Edelson: 1-0

Art Stapleton, Chris Iseman, Bert Bainbridge, Dave Rivera, Bob Jordan and Brian Marron: 0-1

    Vincent Mercogliano: 0-0

Will the Giants move back to .500 and earn their first win of the season, or will Big Blue fall to 0-2 for the sixth time in the last eight seasons?

Here are our staff predictions for the Giants vs. Commanders matchup in Week 2:

    Art Stapleton

The pick: Commanders 17, Giants 10

Here's why: Daniel Jones and the Giants have had Washington’s number (5-1-1 in his career), but that was under the Ron Rivera/Jack Del Rio regime. Meanwhile, Dan Quinn has gotten the best of the Giants while in Dallas as the DC. The Giants were the only team to not score double digits in Week 1, so until they do, it’s difficult predicting them to win a game.

    Vince Mercogliano

The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 16

Here's why: I may have leaned Giants if I had to make this pick a week ago, but Sunday's loss to Minnesota was just about as discouraging as it gets. Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels is an exciting prospect with the ability to use his legs, keep plays alive and exploit a shaky New York secondary. And based on what we saw in Week 1, I don't have much confidence in a Daniel Jones-led offense keeping pace.

    Bert Bainbridge

The pick: Giants 20, Commanders 13

Here's why: As Art mentions, Daniel Jones and Co. struggled against new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn when he was a defensive coordinator with the Cowboys. However, Washington doesn't have the same type of players on defense that Quinn had in Dallas. With a tough schedule coming up, this could be the Giants' last "winnable" game until these two organizations meet again Nov. 3 at MetLife Stadium.

    Steve Edelson

The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 20

Here's why: Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels could be one of the league's top young talents, so it will be interesting to see him on the same field with Daniel Jones. The Giants' offense showed no signs of life in the opener, and it's hard to expect much more here.

    Bob Jordan

The pick: Giants 24, Commanders 21

Here's why: The Giants followed their 2023 opening-game disaster against the Cowboys (40-0) with the miracle comeback against the Cardinals (31-28 after trailing). They can Make Week 2 Great Again.

    Brian Marron

The pick: Giants 20, Commanders 16

Here's why: If there is ever a week for Daniel Jones and the passing game to find any traction, it has to be on Sunday against maybe the worst secondary in football. The Giants offense will probably not light up the scoreboard, but should do enough to eek out a win over a Washington team still working out the kinks with a rookie quarterback.

    Dave Rivera

The pick: Commanders 20, Giants 17

Here's why: The Giants rebounded in Week 2 of the 2023 season with a wild comeback victory over Arizona, but I just don't see the same effort here in Landover.

    Chris Iseman

The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 7

Here's why: To win in the NFL, you need good quarterback play. It's really that simple. And right now, the Giants don't have good quarterback play.
