MLB's most historic rivalry takes place for the final time in 2024 as the Yankees host the Red Sox in a four-game set beginning tonight in the Bronx.

The Yankees (84-62) extended their division lead with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory in 11 innings over the Royals on Wednesday night.

It was a huge night for the Bronx Bombers, as not only did they seal a series win over Kansas City, but also have their lead in the AL East moved to 1.5 games thanks to Boston's 5-3 win in 10 innings over the Orioles last night at Fenway Park.

In the season series, the Red Sox hold the slight 5-4 advantage as they've won two out of three series against the Yankees.

However, the Bronx Bombers got the last laugh in the most recent meeting with the organization taking two out of three games in Boston back in late July.

Even though the Red Sox (74-72) are currently out of the playoff picture (four games back of third and final wild card spot in AL), they could now help out the Orioles with either a series win or sweep at Yankee Stadium this weekend.

With first pitch right around the corner, here's tonight's starting lineups for the Yankees and Red Sox in the series opener:
