Angry NFL fans took to social media Sunday afternoon as Optimum service was experiencing widespread outages in North Jersey.

The outages meant that Giants and Jets fans in some areas could not watch their favorite teams in early afternoon games. And Emmy awards fans were unable to access the awards coverage in the evening.

By 6:30 p.m. the outages had become widespread throughout Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties. An Optimum outage map showed that well over 50,000 customers had been affected across the area.

Outages were also reported in The Bronx, on Long Island and in central New Jersey.

Downdetector showed that reports of outages spiked to close to 4,000 at about 2 p.m.

Some angry football fans took to social media to air their frustration.

Optimum had a similar outage issue earlier this month.
