    Hurricane Helene cancels hundreds of flights. What to know if your flight is canceled

    Multiple major airports are closed, and several airlines have issued travel advisories as Florida braces for Hurricane Helene , which is forecasted to bring potentially catastrophic hurricane-force winds and deadly storm surge to the west coast of the Florida peninsula and the Big Bend region.

    The hurricane is also expected to impact Georgia, the Carolinas and the Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center .

    Due to the storm, travelers all over the country are experiencing flight delays and cancellations.

    Airport closures and flight cancellations from Helene

    Tampa International Airport , Tallahassee International Airport and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will all be closed on Thursday. They are expected to resume operations on Friday morning or as soon as it is safe to do so.

    According to FlightAware , there have been 1,023 total cancellations within, into, or out of the United States on Thursday as of 11:30 a.m.

    Newark Airport has seen 40 flight cancellations, several of which were scheduled to depart from or land at Tampa International Airport as well as other airports in Florida, according to FlightAware.

    How to check if your flight is canceled due to Hurricane Helene

    Several airlines have released travel alerts for airports that are within Hurricane Helene's path including several in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mexico and the surrounding area.

    If your flight has been canceled due to Helene, visit your airline's website to view the most up to date information about rescheduling and waived cancellation/change fees.
