MILWAUKEE − The Mets have their star shortstop back for the most important series of the year.

Francisco Lindor will make his return to the Mets' starting lineup during Friday night's series opener against the Brewers from American Family Field in Milwaukee. Lindor is slotted into the leadoff spot for the Mets.

The 30-year-old has missed the Mets' last eight games as he worked through back discomfort . He was penciled into Wednesday's lineup against the Braves before the contest was postponed due to inclement weather .

Luisangel Acuña has been replacing Lindor at shortstop in his absence. Acuña will be available off the bench on Friday night.

After playing in each of the Mets' first 147 games of the season, Lindor was sidelined after tweaking his back on a play at second base on Sept. 13. He attempted to play two days later but only lasted one inning. He received a facet injection in his back on Sept. 19 and a bone scan on Monday revealed no structural damage.
