    Football: There's a new No. 1 public team in latest New Jersey Super 25 rankings

    An action-packed Week 4 caused some major shuffling among public-school teams in the New Jersey Super 25 rankings.

    Winslow took out Millville, the top-ranked public-school team since the start of the season, and is now the No. 2-ranked public-school team in the state. Toms River North edged the Eagles for the top spot after a last-minute victory last week.

    This week's schedule features five games between ranked teams: Morris Knolls at Mount Olive, St. Thomas Aquinas at Paramus Catholic, Camden at Winslow, St. Augustine at Holy Spirit, and DePaul at Don Bosco.

    Every week, voters from across the Network will rank the top teams in the state. The rankings will be posted every Tuesday morning.

    25. Glassboro (4-0)

    Making his Bulldog debut, senior running back Kenny Smith rushed 14 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns during a 34-0 win over Woodbury. He missed the first three games following his transfer from Hammonton. Brandon Simmons recorded five sacks, Tyler Bright had 2.5 sacks and Xavier Sabb intercepted a pass as Glassboro posted its third consecutive shutout.

    24. West Morris (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 14

    Peter Miragliotta rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns, Brady Bentrewicz ran for 93 yards and a touchdown, and Zavad Marsa caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown as the Wolfpack beat Randolph, 34-0, on Friday. Tom Borgia registered seven tackles and two sacks on defense.

    23. Phillipsburg (3-1)

    Non-public ranking: 13

    The Stateliners shook off their Week 3 loss to Ridge by beating Hillsborough in a 42-35 slugfest. Phillipsburg took a 35-20 lead heading to the fourth quarter as Jett Genovese threw for 192 yards and two scores and rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown. Matt Scerbo Jr. caught five passes for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

    Next game: Friday at West Orange (4-1)

    22. Ridge (3-1)

    Non-public ranking: 12

    The Red Devils continued to roll, reeling off their third straight victory with an impressive 47-10 win over Bridgewater-Raritan to clinch the Big Central Conference American Silver Division title. Ryan Turner had a monster game with six touchdowns. All four of his catches were scores (160 receiving yards) and he rushed for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

    Next game: Friday vs. Union (0-5)

    21. Morris Knolls (4-0)

    Non-public ranking: 11

    Running backs Justin Hanson and Bobby Brickner combined for 301 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Roxbury on Saturday. Hanson had touchdown runs of 46 and 23 yards in the first quarter as the Golden Eagles scored the first 28 points of the game. He finished with 138 yards on six carries in the victory.

    Next game: Saturday at Mount Olive (3-1)

    20. Washington Township (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 10

    The Minutemen rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 21-10 home win over Williamstown. Quarterback Cole Aquino fired a pair of touchdown passes to Paris Platt and Dayshawn Long, and Andrew Osborn rushed for a score. Cole Beeler earned his third 100-yard rushing game of the season, but was held out of the end zone for the first time in five games.

    Next game: Friday at Lenape (1-4)

    19. Paramus Catholic (2-2)

    The Paladins’ 55-28 loss Friday to DePaul represented the most points they’ve allowed since 2022. They continue to put points on the board, with junior Marco Green throwing for 229 yards and throwing TD passes to senior Xavier Williams and junior Chris Ventura. Williams rushed for 134 yards and a score.

    Next game: Friday vs. St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1)

    18. Mount Olive (3-1)

    Non-public ranking: 9

    Jake Asbury completed 26 of 27 passes for 277 yards and four touchdowns as the Marauders held on for a 49-35 win over Morristown. Asbury found Vincent Carpini and Tommy Canning for touchdowns in the first quarter as Mount Olive built a 28-0 halftime lead. Asbury also threw touchdown passes to Carpini and Triston Hibbert in the second half to cement the victory.

    Next game: Saturday vs. Morris Knolls (4-0)

    17. St. Joseph (Metuchen) (4-0)

    Non-public ranking: 9

    The Falcons notched a dominant 35-16 win over Westfield after leading 35-3 headed to the fourth quarter. Justin Scaramuzzo threw for 280 yards and five touchdowns to four different receivers, led by Jacob Pappas (four catches for 132 yards and two scores). Jaylen Frias paced the defense with seven tackles as St. Joseph clinched the Big Central Conference American Gold Division title.

    Next game: Friday vs. North Brunswick (1-4)

    16. Camden (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 8

    The Panthers returned to the win column with a 44-27 home win over Rancocas Valley. Camden’s ground attack delivered major damage as the team pounded out a whopping 391 yards, including 215 by Christian Braxton and another 113 by Jaiden Steele. The team amassed 620 all-purpose yards in the game. Camden’s offense has produced more than 2,000 yards of total offense in five games, including 1,147 on the ground.

    Next game: Friday at Winslow (5-0)

    15. Mainland (3-2)

    Non-public ranking: 7

    The Mustangs suffered their second loss in three weeks with a 21-3 setback at St. Augustine. Mainland turned the ball over five times, including throwing four interceptions. Nate Kashey accounted for Mainland’s lone points with a 32-yard field goal.

    Next game: Friday vs. Ocean City (4-1)

    14. Old Tappan (5-0)

    Non-public ranking: 6

    The Golden Knights registered their first shutout of the season with Friday’s 45-0 victory over Paramus. Senior Nick Rossi made eight tackles and rushed for 101 yards and two TDs. Junior Aidan Nally had three tackles and an interception. Sophomore Zach Micelli completed 5 of 8 passes for 115 yards and three scores.

    Next game: Saturday vs. Northern Highlands (3-2)

    13. Holy Spirit (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 8

    The Spartans collected their fourth straight win with a 28-14 triumph over visiting Cedar Creek. Emir Hicks rushed for three touchdowns and Ryan Mallen caught a Ty Costabile pass for the final score. Holy Spirit has outscored the opposition 131-26 over the last four weeks.

    Next game: Friday vs. St. Augustine (4-1)

    12. Rumson-Fair Haven (4-0)

    Non-public ranking: 5

    Senior quarterback Owen O'Toole became the second QB in Rumson-Fair Haven history to eclipse 5,000 career passing yards as the threw three TD passes in the Bulldogs' 34-7 win over Middletown South. He went 9 for 13 for 236 yards and also ran for a score. Carson Memmot added an interception return for a TD. Rumson-Fair Haven is 4-0 for the first time since 2021.

    Next game: Saturday at Manchester Township (4-1)

    11. Passaic Tech (5-0)

    Non-public ranking: 4

    The Bulldogs won a battle of unbeatens over then-No. 25 Ridgewood, 14-0 , to give coach Matt Demarest his 100th career win in his 13th season. Junior Gabe Miles threw for 190 yards and ran for a TD. Sophomore Ian McDuffie ran for a TD, and his fourth-quarter interception preserved a second consecutive shutout.

    Next game: Saturday at Ramapo (1-3)

    10. Millville (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 3

    After allowing 20 points in its first four games combined, the Thunderbolts suffered a 35-7 defeat on their home turf to Winslow , snapping a four-game winning streak. Millville’s offense struggled, held to a season-low 115 yards. The loss was Millville’s second in the last 15 games at Wheaton Field.

    Next game: Friday vs. Delsea (1-3)

    9. St. Augustine (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 7

    The Hermits got back to their winning ways with a 21-3 triumph over visiting Mainland. St. Augustine’s defense flexed its muscles by forcing five turnovers, including four interceptions, and held Mainland to to fewer than 140 yards. In five games, St. Augustine has yielded just 37 points. Julian Turney led the Hermits’ offense as he accounted for 136 of St. Augustine’s 223 rushing yards and scored a touchdown.

    Next game: Friday at Holy Spirit (4-1)

    8. St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 6

    The Trojans beat Elizabeth, 25-8, in a game that was suspended with 2:34 left in the third quarter after running back Chase Young collapsed untouched and was taken out in an ambulance. Coach Tarig Holman said Saturday morning that Young was released from the hospital and is doing well . Young and Chukwuma Odoh each rushed for more than 100 yards and Roman Blanks completed 9 of 9 passes for 124 yards and two scores.

    Next game: Friday at Paramus Catholic (2-2)

    7. Don Bosco (2-2)

    Non-public ranking: 5

    The Ironmen were within striking distance of ending Bergen Catholic’s 19-game winning streak against Garden State opponents, but fell short in a 24-20 loss . Junior Dante DeLuca ran for two TDs to help knot the score, 14-14, in the third. Sophomore Dylan Wrona threw a 12-yard score to sophomore Isaiah Alvarez to pull within 24-20.

    Next game: Friday vs. DePaul (5-0)

    6. Winslow (5-0)

    Non-public ranking: 2

    Sophomore quarterback Jalen Parker hit four different receivers for touchdowns as the Eagles soared to a 35-7 rout at then-No. 3 Millville . Wisconsin-bound Cam Miller was a difference maker in all three phases of the game, and his 30-yard touchdown catch between two defenders was the back-breaking score in the third quarter. Parker has 34 career touchdown throws in 12 career games, including 13 in five contests this season.

    5. Toms River North (5-0)

    Public ranking: 1

    A 20-yard field goal by senior Yianni Papanikolas with 46 seconds remaining completed a rally from a 14-point first-half deficit and gave the Mariners a 24-21 win over Point Pleasant Borough . It was the only time in the game Toms River North led. Senior quarterback T.J. Valerio accounted for 272 yards of total offense and all three TDs. Toms River North has a 31-game winning streak against public schools dating back to 2021.

    4. Delbarton (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 4

    Brock Dandridge rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown pass, in a 40-0 win over Seton Hall Prep on Saturday . The Green Wave have shut out opponents in six straight quarters and 10 of their last 12 quarters.

    Next game: Saturday vs. Pope John (1-3)

    3. DePaul (5-0)

    Non-public ranking: 3

    The Spartans continued to light up the scoreboard, registering a season-high for points in Friday’s 55-28 win over Paramus Catholic. Senior Nolan James ran for 202 yards and four TDs. Junior Derek Zammit threw for 270 yards, including TD passes to junior Michael Knox and seniors Dez Jones and Elijah Burress.

    Next game: Friday at Don Bosco (2-2)

    2. St. Joseph (Montvale) (4-1)

    Non-public ranking: 2

    The Green Knights registered their fourth consecutive victory by more than 20 points, 38-14, Saturday over St. Peter’s Prep. Junior Lamar Best threw for 224 yards, including TD passes to seniors Mekhi Rossignol and Jovon Williams. Junior John Forster ran for 97 yards, with two first half-scores to help build a 28-7 halftime lead.

    Next game: Oct. 11 at Don Bosco (2-2)

    1. Bergen Catholic (4-1)

    The Crusaders fought off Don Bosco on Saturday, 24-20 . Senior Dominic Campanile threw for `170 yards, including TD passes to junior Dante Kain and sophomore Bryan Porter. Senior Benjamin Carey scored on a 16-yard fumble return, and senior Guy Bartolomeo kicked a 41-yard field goal for a 24-14 lead in the fourth.

    Next game: Oct. 12 vs. Paramus Catholic (2-2)
