Game day is finally here, Devils fans!

For the first time since April 15, the New Jersey Devils are back on home ice at "The Rock" on Thursday night as they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to Prudential Center.

New Jersey has already got its regular season underway, earning two victories over the Buffalo Sabres in a Global Series sweep at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia, last week.

The Devils are aiming for their first 3-0 start since the 2018-19 season, when they also began the regular season overseas in that year's Global Series game with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Sweden.

Toronto is on the second night of a back-to-back, as the Maple Leafs started their season with a 1-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

NJ Devils vs Maple Leafs predictions, picks, odds

Devils 4, Maple Leafs 3: There's no doubt the Maple Leafs, led by the best goal scorer in the league -- Auston Matthews -- will bounce back after being shutout last night. The new Toronto captain -- who posted a career-high and league-best 69 goals last season -- has crushed the Devils in his career, scoring 18 goals in 18 games and netted 13 goals in the last 10 contests against the organization. The three head-to-head matchups last season featured plenty of high-scoring affairs (at least seven goals scored in all three games), and I expect that to continue here, with the Devils squeaking out a close, one-goal victory to remain undefeated heading into the weekend.

    Odds: Devils -1.5 (+180), Maple Leafs +1.5 (-210)

    Over/Under: 6.5 goals

Moneyline: Devils -135, Maple Leafs -118

Odds according to BetMGM as of Oct. 10.
