A direct flight from New Jersey to Greenland? Soon it’ll be possible.

United Airlines is adding five new international routes to Newark Liberty International Airport — its hub — as part of eight total routes being added next summer.

The move marks United’s biggest expansion, which it says will add 760 more weekly flights.

Starting next May, travelers can use Newark Airport to fly to:

    • Bilbao, Spain
    • Faro, Portugal
    • Palermo, Italy

Then in June, United is adding flights from Newark Airport to Madeira Island, Portugal and Nuuk, Greenland.

United will also be adding nonstop flights starting in May from Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Washington D.C to Dakar, followed by Tokyo to Kaohsiung, Taiwan next July.

Last month, United and Elon Musk’s SpaceX announced plans to bring Wifi to more than 1,000 aircraft over the next several years through the Starlink satellite service.

Once operational, passengers will be able to use the Wifi to connect to multiple devices free of charge. United said it would begin testing the service on some aircraft in early 2025.
