You will need to double-check your fridge and freezer right now for several meat and poultry products which have been recalled for possible metal and listeria contaminations .

This means you'll have to either immediately destroy or return popular products made by several national brands.

Here's a roundup of the recent meat and pouty recalls.

Boar's Head meat recall leads to plant closure

In August, the Food and Safety Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture confirmed that dozens of Boars' Head meats have been added to the recall list.

Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc. expanded its recall of deli meats due to possible contamination with listeria bacteria.

The company recalled about 7 million more pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including 71 products made between May 10 and July 29, 2024, under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brands.

These items include meat intended for slicing at retail delis as well as some packaged meat and poultry products sold at retail locations."

The United States Department of Agriculture published a spreadsheet of the additional recalled meats , and also has an alert depicting the labels of the recalled meats .

The recall includes popular Boar's Head deli mets such as beef salami; bologna; Italian cappy style ham; steakhouse roasted bacon; sweet sliced uncured ham; tavern ham; and Virginia ham.

The listeria contamination is thought to be responsible for at least two deaths, the permanent closure of one plant , and triggered at least one lawsuit .

    BrucePac recalling chicken products

Poultry producer BrucePac is in the process of recalling nearly 10 million pounds of chicken products due to a possible listeria outbreak. BrucePac products were distributed to and sold from several popular supermarkets, including Aldi, Trader Joe's and Walmart.

"The ready-to-eat meat and poultry items were produced from June 19, 2024, to October 8, 2024," read the USDA's recall alert . "These products were shipped to other establishments and distributors nationwide then distributed to restaurants and institutions. Information regarding product labels and the list of products will be provided when available.

"The products subject to recall bear establishment numbers '51205 or P-51205' inside or under the USDA mark of inspection."

Perdue issued chicken nugget recall in August

Over the summer, Perdue recalled 167,000 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat nuggets and tenders because they may have been contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal.

The USDA's Perdue recall list includes Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets; Perdue Chicken Breast Tenders; and Butcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets.
