Can Big Blue ruin Saquon Barkley's homecoming to MetLife Stadium?

    By Art Stapleton, NorthJersey.com,

You're All In. Let's go All In.

Saquon Barkley is as fierce of a competitor I’ve seen covering the NFL for 15 years.

If you’re buying Sunday's homecoming to MetLife Stadium for the Eagles' star running back for a game against the Giants means as little as he wisely says it does in terms of how he performs, you have not been paying attention.

That’s not meant as an insult. It’s a salute to Saquon the competitor.

"He'll find a way to compete in anything, definitely intense," Giants reserve quarterback Tommy DeVito told NorthJersey.com on Thursday, flashing a smile. "Ping pong. Golf. Basketball. Anything."

Barkley once garnered attention for his fierce game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" on the sideline during a preseason game with Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. Last season, when a reporter questioned a move Barkley made in a chess game with a teammate, Barkley challenged that reporter to a game to prove his point.

"I don’t expect to get booed. This rivalry is so much bigger than what happened in the offseason between me and the Giants, or Hard Knocks," Barkley told reporters in Philadelphia on Wednesday. "I don’t have to prove anything to them. I’m thankful for the opportunity for this organization (Eagles) ... That’s the people I need to prove it to, and my teammates."

Will Coughlin, Eli make it a Canton summer for Big Blue?

Tom Coughlin is one step closer to Canton. Eli Manning is already on that path.

Wouldn't it be something for the Giants next summer if Coughlin and Manning get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame together?

Coughlin was one of 12 coaches voted through by the Hall's nine-member Coach Blue-Ribbon Committee, joining Bill Arnsparger and Dan Reeves, both of whom also coached the Giants; Jeff Fisher; Alex Gibbs; Mike Holmgren; Chuck Knox; Richie Petitbon; Marty Schottenheimer; George Seifert; Mike Shanahan and Clark Shaughnessy.

Last month, Manning was officially included as one of 16 first-year nominees for the Hall. Two-time Super Bowl MVP ranks in the top 10 in career passing yards, completions and touchdown passes.

Four Downs with ... safety Jason Pinnock

This is our weekly four-part Q&A with Giants players and coaches hitting on a variety of topics. This week's subject: safety Jason Pinnock, who has paired with rookie Tyler Nubin to provide a solid back line of defense for the Giants after the departure of Xavier McKinney in free agency to the Green Bay Packers.

AS: What’s your first football memory?

JP: Probably my first Pick 6 in Little League football with my dad as my coach. It was in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, we were playing to go into the semifinals and we were down five points. The game was really over. It was third and 6, our offense was struggling, and they really didn’t have to do anything. They should’ve just ran it and let the time tick off, and they threw it. They threw it to me, I picked it off and we won the game. I was 8 years old, ran down the whole sideline going crazy.

AS: Who was the player you idolized growing up?

JP: [Darrelle] Revis. That was my No. 1. It was dope the way my career played out because I was able to meet him. I had the Pittsburgh connection with him when I was with the Jets, that was a big reason why I even went to Pitt, and that was my guy.

AS: What’s the most exciting play you’ve been a part of in the NFL?

JP: Picks. Gotta get picks. For me, it has to be 102. [Pinnock’s 102-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Dolphins last October].

AS: Tell me something we don’t know about Jason Pinnock.

JP: I have really, really, really hyperextensive knees. If people ever see me standing, they fall back. I don’t do it as much because I’m older now and probably shouldn’t be stretching the ligaments all that much. My momma used to yell at me all the time because, we’d be waiting somewhere and I’d be bending [his knees] back and forth. She’d smack the back of my knees to push them forward. I don’t do it anymore as an adult!
