WATCH: Pete Alonso goes deep to give Mets early life in Game 5 of NLCS vs. Dodgers

With the Mets needing a win to save their season, the Polar Bear put them on the right track early.

Pete Alonso took Jack Flaherty deep in the first inning of Game 5 of the National League Championship Series on Friday to give the Mets an early 3-0 lead at Citi Field. It was Alonso's fourth homer of this postseason.

The homer comes after the Mets escaped a disastrous start while trailing 3-1 in the series, as David Peterson was able to get out of a jam with runners on third and second with no outs in the top of the first inning. Now, the Mets will look to hold on the lead to send the series back to Los Angeles.
